“When it all kicks off:
Talking about Controversial Issues”

Three Faiths Forum’s team of trained speakers from different faiths and beliefs have been asked every question you can imagine about religion, belief and identity. Sometimes, the topics and assumptions that emerge are hot enough to stop even the most experienced adult in their tracks:
“Aren’t Christians meant to hate gay people?”
“Don’t you feel oppressed as a Muslim woman?”
“Why are Jews always trying to conquer Muslims?”
Using real-life examples from Three Faiths Forum’s and your own experiences, we will explore different methodologies for:
- building confidence when dealing with controversial topics
- creating safe space and maintaining boundaries
- challenging assumptions
- showing the complexity of situation
- using difficult moments as opportunities for learning
