Walk for Freedom

We would very much appreciate you publicising this event in your church.

On October 15, people across the globe will join the movement to abolish modern-day slavery one step at a time. The event is a collective effort led by A21, a global anti-human trafficking organisation dedicated to fighting slavery and abolishing injustice in the 21st century.

We will be hosting a Walk For Freedom in Windermere, that starts at 11am at The Lakes School, Troutbeck Bridge and ends at Bowness on Windermere Pier. We are the only town in Cumbria and one of the few in the North West to host a Walk for Freedom in all of Cumbria. The nearest other cities are Liverpool, Newcastle and Edinburgh!

This comes at exactly a time when Theresa May announced she is setting up a task force on modern slavery. Whatever your political persuasion, one thing is for sure, this woman has engaged in the battle against this cruel exploitation. May says modern slavery involves the exploitation of men, woman and children. Children in this country are being made to pick pocket on the streets, students forced into prostitution and ‘from nail bars and car washes to sheds and rundown caravans, people are enduring experiences that are simply horrifying in their inhumanity’ (Theresa May Telegraph 31st July 2016).

Please find attached our Press Release with all the details.

Many thanks

Janice
